چکیده

We consider the problem of identifying a base k string given an oracle which returns information about the number of correct components in a query, specifically, the Hamming distance between the query and the solution, modulo r = max{2, 6 − k}. Classically this problem requires Ω(n logr k) queries. For k ∈ {2, 3, 4} we construct quantum algorithms requiring only a single quantum query. For k > 4, we show that O( √ k) quantum queries suffice. In both case, the quantum algorithms are optimal. 2001 Physics and Astronomy Classification Scheme: 03.67.Lx. 2000 American Mathematical Society Subject Classification: 81P68, 68Q17.

Adiabatic quantum search algorithm for structured problems

The study of quantum computation has been motivated by the hope of finding efficient quantum algorithms for solving classically hard problems. In this context, quantum algorithms by local adiabatic evolution have been shown to solve an unstructured search problem with a quadratic speedup over a classical search, just as Grover’s algorithm. In this paper, we study how the structure of the search...

Solving Highly Constrained Search Problems with Quantum Computers

A previously developed quantum search algorithm for solving 1-SAT problems in a single step is generalized to apply to a range of highly constrained k-SAT problems. We identify a bound on the number of clauses in satissability problems for which the generalized algorithm can nd a solution in a constant number of steps as the number of variables increases. This performance contrasts with the lin...

Single-Step Quantum Search Using Problem Structure

The structure of satisfiability problems is used to improve search algorithms for quantum computers and reduce their required coherence times by using only a single coherent evaluation of problem properties. The structure of random k-SAT allows determining the asymptotic average behavior of these algorithms, showing they improve on quantum algorithms, such as amplitude amplification, that ignor...

BQIABC: A new Quantum-Inspired Artificial Bee Colony Algorithm for Binary Optimization Problems

Artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithm is a swarm intelligence optimization algorithm inspired by the intelligent behavior of honey bees when searching for food sources. The various versions of the ABC algorithm have been widely used to solve continuous and discrete optimization problems in different fields. In this paper a new binary version of the ABC algorithm inspired by quantum computing, c...
